Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart. - Elizabeth Andrew

The Broomfield Band program would not be successful without the invaluable support of our volunteers. We have many year-long, seasonal, and event specific volunteer opportunities available for parents, relatives, or friends interested in helping out.

BVSD requires anyone looking to volunteer, in any capacity, to complete a volunteer application and background check. This must be completed prior to volunteering.

Year-long and Seasonal opportunities (2023-2024)

Many of these opportunities can be shared! If you're interested in filling a vacant position, please notify a BBPA board member, or send an email to bbpa.president@gmail.com with the position you’re interested in.

  • Coordinate and manage operations for The Snack Shack concession stand. The Snack Shack is open during all home football games, and may open during other BHS sporting events.

  • Coordinate with The Snack Shack Manager to identify, puchase, and deliver items to be sold in The Snack Shack.

  • Coordinate meals for students, instructors, and volunteers for competition days.

  • Bring and set up canopies, tarps, tables, and other needed supplies for competition days.

  • Organize Marching uniforms and Concert attire; coordinate fitting dates and times; and perform or coordinate alterations, repairs, and cleaning as needed.

  • Needed for every competition. Pick up a 26' UHaul truck the day before the competition and drive it to the school to be loaded. Drive the truck to/from the competition, then back to the school to be unleaded. Can be returned that night or the next day.

  • Shoot and provide quality photographs of band events including rehearsals, competitions, concerts, and fundraisers.

  • Research, draft, and submit proposals to help the BHS band program receive grant funding.

  • Coordinate and post updates to the band's social media channels like Facebook and YouTube.

*Instagram updates are handled by band student upperclassmen.

  • Coordinate storage, maintenance, and gas for the band's generator. Ensure the generator is available and functioning for rehearsals, performances, and competitions as needed.

Event specific opportunities (2023-2024)

Each event requires a minimum number of volunteers to help things run smoothly. The number we need for each event is listed below.

We use SignUpGenius as a tool to organize all of our event specific volunteer opportunities and schedules. Each event will have it's own page with an introduction and basic description. SignUpGenius is free for you to use and sign up as a volunteer.

  • Assist in organizing uniforms from graduated students while helping fit uniforms for new and returning students. This opportunity is available during summer Band Camp.

  • Help move equipment onto and off of the field during half-time of each home football game. Volunteering to help move equipment typically gets you into the game for free.

  • Help move equipment during competition warm-ups and performances. We won't know warm-up or performance times until a week prior to each competition.

  • To run smoothly, The Snack Shack requires the following colunteers each game:
    • 1 Grill Master/Cook
    • 1 Chick-fil-A Runner to pick up sandwichesat a specified time
    • 6-8 Stand Workers

  • Walk with the band during the Broomfield Days parade and supply water to students who require it.

  • Transport student groups to designated areas by driving or walking. Ensure safety by walking with students during the fundraiser, and holding any collected donations to be return to the band.

  • We may require additional volunteers for fundraising events (raffle ticket sales, mattress sale drivers, etc.). These opportunities will be added to the website as they become available, and announced by the BBPA Secretary in the weekly update emails.
